Step Six

The stitches/staples will be removed two weeks after the operation.  Only light activites should be performed during this time.

Step Seven

You will be on a liquid diet for two weeks immediately post surgery. The correct consistancy would be anything runny to drink through straw as large as a McDonalds straw for example. You can refer to the "Gastric Band Nutrition Essential" book and the "Strangle Yourself To Health" DVD for details strangle_DVD_open.JPG

A liquid diet is required to ensure the scar tissue is formed between the Lap band (Gastric Band) and the stomach to consolidate its position and minimse the risk of the Lap Band (gastric band) slipping.

Step Eight

From week 3 to 5 post Lap band surgery (Gastric Band surgery) you will transtion slowly from a mash to a full diet. You can refer to the "Gastric Band Nutrition Essential" book and the "Strangle Yourself To Health" DVD for details book_open_version.JPG

Step Nine

From week 5 onwards your adjustments of the Lap band (gastric band) will begin to inflate the inner ballon of the Lap band system (gastric band system) to create a smaller stomach sitting above the Lap band (gastric band) to help you reduce your volume of food at each meal time and to feel satisfied for a longer time on this reduced quantity.

Step Ten

You must maintain contact with your doctor for the life of your Lap Band (gastric band). Your Lap Band (gastric band) will need to be inflated gradually at this early stage until you feel satidfied on an entree sized meal which would take you about 20 minutes to consume a "dry solid meal".
